Notes on background
I remember a time when money was tight. I taught nights and on Saturday to make ends meet. This was a rare Saturday. We tried hard to make it Sunday.

It's 6 a.m. on a Saturday
The children are all sneaking in
They whisper so loud, I think it's a crowd
And I guess there will be no sleeping in
They tickle us from sleep, “It's Saturday”
“Wake up!” they tickle with a grin
We move so slow, they push us to go
And I know there will be no sleeping in
It's breakfast with Shrek and coffee at last
We drive to the park, they scramble in
The lake is so cold, their splashes so bold
And I remember there was no sleeping in
Now, it's after dark and pizza in the park
The children are beginning to wear thin
They hug us and say, “It was a wonderful day.”
And I thank God there was no sleeping in
